JAMES AND THELMA CONNORS FOUNDATION

Our Founder, James H. Connors was a life-long resident of the City of Medford. He was born in the year 1926 and grew up during the Great Depression. The youngest of three siblings, he worked part time jobs while attending Medford Public Schools. Upon graduation from Medford High School, Jim enlisted in the United States Air Force and served overseas during the Korean War. Upon his discharge from active duty, Jim returned home to Medford. Upon the death of his parents and the marriage of his oldest sister Hazel, Jim and his sister Thelma, whose fiancé was lost in World War II, continued to live in the family residence for the remainder of their lifetime.

Jim was employed in the trucking industry for most of his working career and also owned and operated J.C.‘s Lock & Key Service. Upon his retirement, Jim was a long-time volunteer at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital, where he could be seen pushing his cart distributing mail and packages throughout the hospital corridors always with a kind word and a smile for all.

He enjoyed traveling throughout the country in his RV and friends and family were always welcome to enjoy Jim’s boat and camp in New Hampshire.

Upon the death of his sister, Thelma, Jim decided that he would like to make a difference in the lives of others, to help charitable organizations fulfill their mission, and to provide assistance to youngsters to achieve their educational goals.

Accordingly, prior to his death, Jim Connors founded the James and Thelma Connors Foundation, named after himself and his sister Thelma.

The James and Thelma Connors Foundation is a 501©3 non-profit private foundation.
